New capabilities in VetCert for certified small business owners
The VetCert team released two new capabilities to improve the veteran small business owner experience:
Certified small business owners can make additional update to their business with a “Change Request.”
The team received feedback that small business owners want to make updates to their business in addition to reporting any material changes that may affect program eligibility. We built a “Change Request” workflow that enables an applicant to refresh information about their business that has been updated on SAM.gov. Owners can now also submit a request to update their certification designation from veteran-owned small business to service-disabled veteran owned small business.
For more information on how to update your certified business details, read our FAQ article on reporting changes to SBA.
Certified small business owners can download a 1-year certification extension letter from the VetCert program.
All businesses that were verified as veteran-owned or service-disabled veteran owned small businesses by VA as of January 1, 2023, received a one-year extension to their eligibility to give business owners an extra year to get recertified under the VetCert program. Certification dates were updated in VetCert’s Veteran Small Business Search, and owners whose businesses received the extension can now log into the VetCert platform and download a letter that includes information about the 1-year extension and their new certification expiration date.
